Learning the Basics
Memorizing the drinks is easier than you think! I promise. I know that it can seem like a lot to remember, and it would be, if it wasn’t all based on ratios!
We offer two sizes of drinks in the coffee shop, small & large; we have two different kinds of flavoring, syrups & sauces; and we use either one or two shots of espresso. So here are the ratios –
Syrups (Vanilla, Caramel, Hazelnut, Sugar Free, etc.)
Small Syrup – 2.5 pumps
Large Syrup – 3.5 pumps
Sauces (Dark & White Chocolate)
Small Sauce – 2 pumps
Large Sauce – 3 pumps
Espresso (Regular or Decaf)
Small – 1 shot
Large – 2 shots
There are very few exceptions to these ratios, the most popular being the Caramel Macchiato. You will learn all about these drinks as you go through the links and videos below. The more you familiarize yourself with the Recipe and Short Hand Cards, the easier it will be to work in the coffee shop. Please take the time to look these over and begin to memorize them.

Float and Barista Positions
Now that you have begun to memorize the cards above, it is time to get you working on the Float and Barista positions! In order to function well in either of these positions, you need to be confident in your knowledge of each drink and how to use the equipment. We want to help you gain that confidence by offering tutorial videos on each of these. Watch the videos below on how to make the drinks and how to use each piece of equipment.
Learning the Equipment
The following videos will show you how to turn on, operate, clean, and shut down the most important pieces of equipment that we have in the coffee shop.
Learning the Drinks
The first drink we will be learning about is a Latte. You can think of it as the foundation drink that all the rest are built off of. So, please start by watching this video and then move on to the rest!
